WHO’S THE CW’S #1 “KICK ASS” Woman? In the opinion of this magazine and this columnist, it’s Erica Durance of course! She portrays the iconic character of Lois Lane on Smallville in a way that is all her own and that has defined the character for future generations. Erica made her film debut in the 2002 movie The Untold (aka Sasquatch) as Tara Knowles, the daughter of the lead character played by accomplished veteran actor Lance Henriksen. A couple of years later Erica landed a coveted four episode guest starring role on Smallville as Lois Lane. Through talent and hard work, Erica turned a role where she was only guaranteed four episodes as a guest into the female lead role of North America’s all-time longest running sci-fi/ genre series in television history. She is the all-time record holder for consecutive years playing Lois Lane (7 years: 2004-2011) and number of TV episodes as Lois Lane (103 Episodes: Credited for 143) surpassing previous record holders Noel Neill (5 Years: 1953-1958) and Teri Hatcher (88 Episodes). My favorite “Kick Ass” scene of Erica’s in Smallville was the opening scene of Charade, where we see Lois use all facets of her character to protect The Blur’s identity and get the story. Erica herself is “Kick Ass” because of her talent, her intelligence, her beauty, her charm, and most importantly, her heart. I admire her because she is the most genuinely kind person I have ever met.
